Position Overview

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office is seeking professional, dedicated individuals to serve as Public Safety Dispatchers. This is a critical, multi-jurisdictional role serving as the primary communications link between our citizens and emergency services.

In this position, you are the "first" first responder. You will be responsible for the intake and coordination of emergency resources for Law Enforcement, Fire, and Medical Services across multiple jurisdictions within the county, ensuring the safety of both the public and our field units.

Primary Responsibilities

• Emergency Coordination: Receive, prioritize, and process 911 emergency and non-emergency calls with calm, professional authority.

• Multi-Agency Dispatching: Coordinate the real-time movement and safety of Patrol, Fire, and EMS units using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.

• Tactical Communication: Relate life-saving instructions to callers while simultaneously providing responding units with accurate, real-time tactical data.

• Database Management: Utilize state and federal databases (including MULES/NCIC) to conduct queries and maintain accurate records for field personnel.

• Crisis Management: Navigate high-stress situations with precision, empathy, and decisive judgment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Integrity and Professionalism: Must maintain a composed and authoritative demeanor during life-critical events.

• Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate complex radio, telephony, and multi-monitor computer systems simultaneously.

• Effective Communication: Exceptional verbal skills and the ability to relay information clearly under pressure.

• Certifications: Ability to obtain and maintain Missouri P.O.S.T. or Telecommunicator certifications (training provided for qualified candidates).

• Commitment: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 county-wide coverage.
